For years, I have been trying to get an online store opened. Between being at Salamanca Market full-time and being a part of Off Centre Gallery I could never quite get the stock I needed. In fact, I could barely keep up.
Porcelain can be such a finickety medium to work with. It requires patience and care, so it can't be rushed, especially when drying. Living in the cold climate of Tasmania also limits my making abilities. With the cool nightime air, the drying of my pieces slows overnight so they take twice as long to dry in the Winter months.
This year I decided to try a new tactic and take a chunk of time off the Salamanca Market during July and August, create new work and slowly stock pile some pieces so I would have more down time in Summer and be able to have enough stock for an online store.
The planning has worked, and I am now only a matter of weeks from opening my my online store. I am hoping there will be monthly stock updates and perhaps discounts for the online store for my email subscribers.
The Online Store opening is set for September, with no specific date in mind at the moment. In the meantime, I will get back to the studio making, taking photographs ready to upload the first stock release.
